    Nyako konya. The luo translation means ” girl or lady help” reminds me of how young men used to beg for their lovers love. I was just a boy and I could not comprehend what was happening by then.

    Thank you, for this song. I remember 1979 when political upheavals where unfolding in Uganda. Exiles from Zambia where the song was coined and released in Nairobi. Kudos guys

    This is one of the greatest songs by Les Mangelepa. I used to see them as a young man at Garden Square, Hallian’s club etc. Great stage show they had!! Shida za mapenzi.

    Une Radio Kenyanne des années 70-80 arrosait chaque matin et soir l’est de la RD.Congo par cette belle chanson.Un bon souvenir qui nous rappelle le temps passé ne sachant pas ce que l’avenir aller nous réserver à cette époque.
    Des vrais talents connus au Kenya mais non connus dans leur Pays qu’est la RD.Congo.
    La fuite de cerveau n’a pas commencé aujourd’hui pour ce pays…Dommage…

    Reminds of my elder sisters, Winfred, Rebecca, Jane, Sarah, Susan etc (All dead and RIP). These were their times. I also remember the screams from my father’s beatings as he disciplined them for escaping from home and going to parties or what they used to call ‘Amatini’ loosely translated as the dance for the teens
